OBS

Integration connects to obs-websocket v5 on the same PC and starts disabled. You can use a manual browser source without enabling automation.

Integrations opens a board showing each tool’s status. Click Configure → on OBS and choose a tab. Your draft stays intact when switching tabs; the bottom bar appears while changes are pending and offers Save OBS options or Discard. The browser remembers the open view and tab, but does not store the draft or password.

Find the settings at these locations:

  • Integrations → OBS → Connection: Create sources.
  • Integrations → OBS → Scenes: Automatic start and stop.
  • Integrations → OBS → Instant replay.
  • Integrations → OBS → Event rules.
  • Integrations → OBS → Clips and chapters.
  • Integrations → OBS → Alerts and microphone: Microphone and impact metrics.
  1. Enable obs-websocket in OBS and set a password.
  2. In Integrations → OBS → Connection, save 127.0.0.1, port and password.
  3. Click Test: it reads connection, scenes, outputs and statistics without enabling actions.
  4. Enable integration and select each action separately.

The password is stored in local layout.json; DPAPI encryption is not implemented yet. It is not returned to the interface or printed in logs. Protect the file and backups.

Create sources adds or updates the active profile’s canvas in the selected scene at its resolution. Existing source transforms and visibility are preserved. You can also manually add the canvas URL as a Browser Source.

Choose scenes for garage, race, pit lane, iRacing replay, finish and out of iRacing; Do not change retains the current scene. “Out of iRacing” goes on air when you leave a live session for iRacing’s menus, about 3 seconds after the sim closes; “iRacing replay” is for watching a replay in the sim, not the instant replay. It changes the program scene, not Studio Mode preview. Demo files do not trigger OBS automation.

  • Clips need an already active replay buffer. The app requests a save and awaits confirmation; it does not start the buffer or retry failed writes.
  • Chapters require active, unpaused recording in compatible Hybrid MP4. Titles use car numbers. MKV does not support this feature.
  • Start/stop recording and start/stop streaming are four independent permissions. Stop can stop an output you started manually.
  • Only live races trigger clips, chapters and start/stop. The leader’s flag does not stop your recording early. Sim disconnection or disabling integration does not stop outputs.

Metrics describe OBS, not the cost of overlays alone. OBS statistics and microphone muted use the same local connection. Validate scenes, clips and chapters with your OBS version before going live.

Under Instant replay, choose a scene, a media source in that scene and Return within (s), between 5 and 60 seconds. Refresh the lists with Test connection / refresh scenes. Changing the scene clears the source selection. Saved selections are kept while OBS is disconnected.

You can also click Create instant replay scene: it creates “MonkeyOverlays · Instant replay” with the “MO · Instant replay” media source and selects both (named in the app’s language). Enable and connect integration in the desktop app and save pending changes before using the buttons.

Start the replay buffer in OBS, then click Test replay. The app saves the buffer and plays that clip; Replay in progress… appears while it prepares and plays. It works while you drive and does not move the iRacing replay. Set the clip length in OBS: the app’s limit is the maximum time before returning to the previous scene. It also returns when the video ends earlier; if you change scenes manually, it respects your choice.

Click Add rule and choose an event, scene, source and visible time (whole seconds between 1 and 30). Save up to 32 rules with Save OBS options. Remove rule takes effect when you save; complete or remove unfinished rows before saving.

During a live race, the event shows that source for the chosen time, then hides it. It does not change scenes: prepare sources in the scenes you intend to use on air. Events match clips and chapters; Overtake (single or combo) also accepts a single overtake. These rules do not require clips or chapters to be enabled. Demo files do not trigger them.

Under Pit lane, choose the scene to use when entering pit lane and save options. On exit, it returns to the On track scene. Without a pit lane scene, it uses the on-track scene. This selector is independent of the instant replay scene.

Use Stream health alerts to enable or disable warnings, then save options to apply the change. The panel’s alert strip shows warnings received from OBS: dropped frames and encoder overload with percentages, connection congestion or reconnection. Warnings disappear when the state stops reporting them. This does not start or stop streaming.

In the Stream editor, mark a widget as “On demand”: it stays hidden on the canvas until you put it on air. In the race center, On air lists those graphics: cue them in Preview, check them on the preview monitor (the same canvas with ?preview=1, on another screen) and send them to the stream with TAKE. Clear takes them all off. They fade in and out.

Panic instantly hides the desktop overlays, every OBS canvas and all sounds until you turn it off. It is on Home, in the tray and on the Ctrl+Alt+H shortcut (change it in Options).

To use it from the phone: Integrations → Phone and tablet → Remote control, with an optional PIN. On the phone page choose “Control”: the panic button, switches for overlays, director and celebrations, “Save clip” and “Test a celebration”. Control works only on the local network; the public link cannot control the app. You can protect control with a PIN: every five wrong tries it locks for longer each time, and after twenty phone control turns off until you turn it back on at the PC.

To use an iPad or phone as a stream control panel with images and pages, set up the Button deck. It includes OBS controls and requires a one-second hold to stop streaming or recording.

Use Stream mode to show standings, incidents, lap charts and panels without controls or notebook notes. Follow the Race Center guide to choose the content and copy its URL into OBS.
