neighbors=2|3|4|5 (4): cars on each side. columns=position,number,flag,driver,state,license,irating,gap,tire selects and orders columns; all except tire by default. clock=0 hides the local clock.

Common options.

Orders by proximity on track, not race position. Gaps use interpolated crossings of 200 mini-sectors; negative means ahead. Without recent history, the estimate is abs(offset) × class reference lap time. PIT means pit road; OUT is an observed out lap; L3 is three completed laps at pit entry. Tire compound is an index, not an inferred label. TC, ABS and brake bias always belong to the player. Hidden without rows; hideEmpty=0 keeps the waiting view.

offset = wrap(car_pct − player_pct, 1)

pct is the fraction of a lap. wrap maps the difference into (−0.5, 0.5]. A positive offset means ahead; a negative one means behind.

Rows are sorted by offset, from the furthest ahead to the furthest behind. Up to N cars on either side of the player are shown.

We divide the lap into 200 mini-sectors. For each car, we store the SessionTime at entry to each sector. When it crosses several between samples, intermediate entry times are interpolated.

  • Car ahead: gap = now − time that car passed my current position.
  • Car behind: gap = now − time I passed that car's current position.
  • Within a mini-sector, we interpolate between its entry and the next sector’s entry.

A car ahead has a negative signed gap, unlike the sign of offset.

At the start of a session, after a tow, or when the data is older than ¾ of a lap, the fallback is:

gap_magnitude = |offset| × reference_lap_time_for_player_class

This is an estimate. It does not replace a recent measured passage at the same point.

distance = completed_laps + pct
laps = (car_distance − player_distance) − offset

The result is rounded and clamped to −1, 0 or +1. It describes the lap relationship, not the full count when cars are multiple laps apart.

The pace car is shown only when it is on track and outside pit road.
